Mr. Bing Cheung Ho is the co-founder of Hopewell Holdings Limited, a renowned property and infrastructure developer in Hong Kong. Though he came from a humble background in his youth, through relentless effort and steadfast diligence he ultimately became a successful entrepreneur, making significant economic contributions to the prosperity and development of Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region.
In 1932, Mr. Bing Cheung Ho was born in Shanghai and later came to Hong Kong in 1940 to escape the turmoil of war. His early years in Hong Kong were far from easy—faced with limited access to education, he endured many hardships and took on multiple jobs to make a living. Yet, through resilience and determination, and with an ethos of diligence, frugality, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, he eventually founded Hong Kong Insurance Agents Limited. In the 1960s, he began providing comprehensive insurance services to the rapidly developing service sector. With his sharp business acumen and reliable professional advice, he established a distinguished reputation within the insurance industry. As his business flourished, his entrepreneurial ability won high praise from his partners. With their full support, he broadened his horizons into the booming real estate sector while further expanding his insurance operations. By chance, he also met a lifelong ally and confidant, with whom he joined forces to open a new chapter in his career.

During a business discussion, he was introduced to Sir Gordon Wu by Sir Gordon's elder brother. The two immediately formed a close rapport, and what followed thereafter became well known and needs no further elaboration.
"Before the company's public listing, Sir Gordon Wu and Mr. Bing Cheung Ho became partners. Mr. Ho played a pivotal role in the development and expansion of Hopewell Holdings, serving as a mainstay of the company's operations and taking on an important role in management. Modest in success, he chose not to claim the spotlight, allowing Sir Gordon Wu to become the figure of public attention."

From the very beginning, the two worked in close partnership to build Hopewell Holdings into a giant in the real estate and infrastructure sectors.
Hopewell Holdings was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1972. At that time, the Group carried out the largest fundraising exercise in Hong Kong's history, successfully raising HK$125 million (equivalent to US$15.9 million).
In addition to investing in the local market, Hopewell Holdings also made significant contributions to China's economic transformation. Having first been listed in Hong Kong, the Group established a solid foundation and subsequently seized the opportunities presented by the economic reform and opening-up policies introduced by then national leader Deng Xiaoping in the late 1970s. With a strong sense of commitment to the motherland, the Group actively provided advice and support for local development, becoming the Hong Kong enterprise with the largest number of domestic investment projects at the time. As an industry pioneer, Hopewell Holdings spearheaded several groundbreaking large-scale infrastructure projects in Mainland China, bringing notable economic growth to Guangdong Province. These projects not only enhanced the region's development but also improved the living standards of local residents, bearing witness to China's remarkable transformation.
Sir Gordon Wu has been hailed as the "Father of Infrastructure in Asia." With profound knowledge and innovative vision, he has consistently offered insightful and unique solutions. Mr. Ho, on the other hand, was a far-sighted strategist and executor working behind the scenes, expanding businesses and developing markets with loyalty and steadfast conviction.
He possessed extensive experience in implementing real estate and large-scale infrastructure development projects, which complemented Sir Gordon Wu's vision and foresight, enabling them to pursue great ambitions together. This partnership positioned Hopewell Holdings as a leading infrastructure developer in China and other emerging Asian economies. Their contributions were recognized and valued by the nation, with both Sir Gordon Wu and Mr. Ho being awarded the title of Honorary Citizen in various cities across the Pearl River Delta, earning widespread acclaim.
Mr. Bing Cheung Ho was a mentor and role model to many younger generations. Through both words and deeds, he led by example, embodying throughout his life the spirit of integrity, reliability, and resilience, while also demonstrating the virtues of sincerity, kindness, and benevolence. His humility and strong sense of social responsibility have laid a solid foundation of values for our future.
